We ask that you pay a $20 Transfer of Care Fee, which will cover a small fraction of our costs for admitting the animal and caring for it during its stray holding period. The Transfer of Care Fee for a litter, or a mother and a litter is $20 for the first animal and $5 for each additional animal. The Transfer of Care Fee for rabbits and guinea pigs is $10; rats, mice and hamsters are $5 each. You may also take a stray animal to the Kent County Animal Shelter at no charge. Why a Transfer of Care Fee?

It costs the Humane Society of Kent County an average of $310 to admit, care for, and find a new home for an animal.  These costs include medical procedures and daily care for the animal.  Because we receive no public funding, your Transfer of Care Fee is essential to help us care for the animals.  We welcome any additional donation that you are able to make when you bring us a stray or owned animal.  Any contribution above the minimum Transfer of Care Fee is considered a tax-deductible donation.
