Education Day Camps
These fun
and educational camps are for children ages 5 – 15. In
affordable week-long sessions, children learn about animal
safety, how to be a responsible pet owner, shelter
operations, careers in animal-related fields, and animals
with interesting and helpful jobs. Kids are encouraged to
share what they learn with their family, friends and
neighbors. With the help of dogs, cats and critters from
our shelter, and animal experts from our community, it’s a
dog-gone good time!
Plus, this year, the
HSKC will be offering special Animal Adventure Days.
These one day seminars offer teens, ages 13 - 18, the
chance to participate in specialized sessions in topics
such as animal training and behavior and veterinary
medicine. Dates for the Animal Adventure Days are listed

Pet
Adventure Club
Animal
lovers in 1st thru 7th grades meet at
the Humane Society for hands-on learning about animal care,
careers in animal-related fields, shelter operations, and
being a responsible pet owner. Club members meet one
Saturday per month, October through May, to explore a
variety of monthly animal themes. Did we mention the cool

Classroom Visits
The
Humane Society provides teachers with furry, four-legged
visitors and age-appropriate presentations about pet care,
issues facing animals in our communities, and concern for
all living creatures. Students in all grades learn lessons
from our staff and volunteer experts that are engaging,
interactive and fun.
Shelter Tours
Youth
groups, scouting troops and classrooms go behind-the-scenes
for a fascinating and educational experience in how the
Humane Society cares for stray, surrendered and neglected
animals in our community.
Humane
Education for At-Risk Youth
The
Humane Society collaborates with the Kent County Department
of Corrections and St. John’s Home to teach at-risk youth
constructive lessons about compassion, responsibility, and
the cost of violence.
Baby-Ready Pets
This
seminar instructs expectant families on how to help their
pet adapt to having a new baby in the household. With
proper preparation and accurate information, families avoid
threats to infant safety and surrendering pets to shelters
because of behavior problems.
