Volunteering
Thank you for
your interest in volunteering with the Humane Society! Whether you
assist with animal care or help out in the office, you will
play an important role in helping to make sure that
every pet is a wanted pet.
In order to become an HSKC volunteer,
we ask that all prospective volunteers follow these two
simple steps.
Step 1: Attend a Volunteer Open
House
At the volunteer open house you'll get
a chance to learn more about the Humane Society, what our
volunteer program entails, tour our facility and "Meet and
Greet" with other HSKC volunteers and staff members.
During the "Meet and Greet" portion of
the Open House you will learn about all the different
volunteer opportunities and have the chance to ask current
volunteers and staff any questions you might have.
We'll also have all the information you'll
need to sign up for a training session based on the
volunteer opportunities we have open at the time. If there
are no volunteer opportunities in your area of interest we
will put your name on a waiting list and contact you as soon
as a position opens!
View all of our
volunteer opportunites here.
Make sure to attend
an Open House! No registration is required.
Open House Dates
(Wednesdays, 6 - 8 pm, HSKC Training
Room):
May 5
September 1
June 9
October 6
July 7
November 3
August 4
December 1
Step 2: Volunteer Training
Once we receive your application at the
Volunteer Open House, we will get you scheduled into an open
volunteer training session. At each training session you
will receive hands on training for your area of
interest. You will also be paired up with a current
volunteer and set up times to "volunteer job shadow" them
and get a feel for the position!
Age Requirements:
Please note that
children under 16 years of age must volunteer with an adult
at all times. We also ask that all 15 and 16 year old
volunteers be accompanied by an adult through training and
their first few volunteering shifts.

program, please contact Tabitha Yuhas at (616) 791-8056, or
